# U.S. and EU Ratchet Up Coordinated Sanctions on Russia

Partner [Eric McClafferty](/Our-People/Eric-McClafferty) co-authored the article ​“U.S. and EU Ratchet Up Coordinated Sanctions on Russia”, which was published by *Metropolitan Corporate Counsel*. The article outlines the sanctions recently implemented by the United States and the European Union in response to the continuing situation in Ukraine. U.S. sanctions include new restrictions on Russia’s energy sector and enhanced capital restrictions. European Union sanctions outlined in the article include new restrictions on the export of dual use goods and services to certain Russian companies, restrictions on services related to oil exploration and production, tightened restrictions on services related to military goods, further restricting Russian access to capital markets, and expanding the list of Designated Persons.
