# Regulating Beyond the Rule of Reason

A century after its founding, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) declared independence from antitrust laws and rewrote competition-enforcement policy.

 At stake in the outcome of the FTC’s initiatives are the prices customers will pay and the costs that producers will bear. This article from Kelley Drye’s [William MacLeod](https://www.kelleydrye.com/people/william-c-macleod), which appeared in the *George Mason Law Review*, will review enforcement of the Robinson-Patman Act for evidence of the costs of departures from antitrust norms.
