# Layoffs Ahead? Do it Right

The article discussed how companies can prepare for conducting layoffs without violating the law. It provided advice on various issues such as alternatives to layoffs, severance packages and how to spot potential ​“discrimination claims.” The article also examined the effects that the Older Worker’s Benefit Protection Act, Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act and local labor laws could have on the outcome of a layoff.
