Rod Ghaemmaghami focuses his practice on data privacy and information security, advertising technology, and other consumer protection law matters. Rod advises clients on ad tech privacy issues, regulatory and legal privacy issues, and provides practical legal advice based on his deep understanding of the tech industry.
Prior to joining the firm, Rod was Senior Counsel at the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI), where he worked with Ad Tech companies in conducting compliance reviews of their practices under NAI’s Code of Conduct. He led their location working group, working with location and other Ad Tech companies to implement just-in-time notice guidance for location data. He also published a best practices document for non-marketing uses of data, an opt-in consent guidance, and an update to the NAI’s imprecise location guidance. Rod has experience with CCPA, GDPR, COPPA, Political Advertising, self-regulatory frameworks, and other legal and regulatory requirements.
Rod has worked on the Public Policy team at Facebook focusing on privacy, supporting executives in their global policy engagement, and interfacing with international organizations. During law school, Rod worked for the Senior Privacy Advisor at the White House, at Harvard University’s Berkman-Klein Center, and at the Federal Communications Commission.
