# The New York Times Quotes Partner Richard S. Chargar on Retiree Drug Benefits

Partner Richard S. Charger was quoted in an Associated Press article in *The New York Times*, ​“Health Reform Tax to Cost Retiree Drug Benefits?” The article examined the new health care law’s impact on prescription drug insurance for former employees. It noted that companies could cut back on medical coverage for retired workers in order to offset taxes on unsubsidized benefits. The piece also discussed the legal impact of an employer’s decision to change their former worker’s drug benefits.

 ​“The more companies attempt to cut back retiree benefits, the more likely you’re going to have employees fighting back,” said Richard Chargar, an employee benefits attorney for the New York based Kelley Drye & Warren.
