# The New York Law Journal Reports James S. Carr as New Chair

*The New York Law Journal* reported that [James S. Carr](/Our-People/James-S-Carr) has been elected chair and selected Lewis Rose as managing partner of the firm in the article ​“Kelley Drye Selects New Chair of Firm.” In their new roles, Mr. Carr will oversee firm strategy and Mr. Rose will oversee day-to-day operations. Mr. Carr succeeds Paul McCurdy, who will continue to serve as head of the broker-deal practice group and remain a member of the executive committee. The article noted that Mr. Carr plans on increasing the firm’s brand awareness outside of New York and Washington. ​“We’ve been around a long time and yet some people don’t know our brand. Some people outside New York, say, ​‘oh, that’s a New York-based firm,’ so we have to work on that,” Mr. Carr said.
