# Partner John E. Villafranco Quoted in AP Article on Early Termination Fees

In an *Associated Press* article titled ​“Want Out of Your Service Plan? It Will Cost You,” partner John E. Villafranco was quoted. The article discusses the fees that consumers face when terminating cable service, cell phone plans and other contracts. The early termination fee is intended to recoup money if the the consumer leaves a contract prematurely.

 Mr. Villafranco states that “(The early termination fee) should bear some relation to the actual cost that the company is incurring.” The article explores how much consumers can expect to pay with termination fees, how these fees can be avoided and what happens in the case of there being no opt out options in a contract.
