# Partner Alysa Hutnik Quoted in *Fortune* Article on the CCPA

Partner [Alysa Hutnik](/Our-People/Alysa-Z-Hutnik) was quoted in *Fortune’*s article ​“Here Comes America’s First Privacy Law: What the CCPA Means for Business and Consumers.” The article covers the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the first of its kind, which will go into effect on January 1, 2020.

The CCPA will allow for consumers to demand companies disclose what personal data has been collected, and ask for the data to be deleted. The state law applies to companies with $25 million in gross revenue, companies that have data on more than 50,000 customers, or those that make more 50% of their profit from selling consumer data. For smaller data companies, this law can be a setback.

“If you restrict data flows, it will protect privacy but it will have costs on what startups can enter the market,” Alysa told *Fortune*.
