# New York Law Journal References Partner Geoffrey W. Castello as Counsel to Sotheby’s in Appellate Judgement Win against Donny Deutsch

Partner [Geoffrey W. Castello](/Our-People/Geoffrey-W-Castello) was mentioned as counsel to Sotheby’s International Realty, Inc. on the front page of a *New York Law Journal* article ​“Panel Upholds $1.6 Million Judgment against TV Host.” The article reports on a recent decision of the New York Appellate Division affirming the trial court’s $1.6 million judgment in favor of Sotheby’s against television personality and advertising executive, Donny Deutsch, who failed to pay a commission on the $30 million sale of his East Hampton property in 2011. The panel’s decision stated that ​“we find no basis to disturb the trial court’s findings, based largely on credibility determinations, that there was an express agreement or at least an implied agreement to pay plaintiff a commission of 4 percent.”
