Partner **Barbara E. Hoey**, chair of Kelley Drye’s Labor & Employment practice, was quoted in the *Law360* article, ​“Local Wage Hikes In NY Could Create Compliance Headaches.” The article discusses a bill that would allow local governments in New York to raise their minimum wages without state approval. This type of law could benefit workers living in New York City, where the cost of living is significantly higher than it is in upstate New York, but the law could also cause several issues for businesses. For example, Ms. Hoey told *Law360*, ​“Say you’re a chain with a location in Town A and another in Town B, and Town B pays a higher wage. Am I going to have employees vying to transfer from once place to another?”
