# Laura Riposo VanDruff Quoted in *Law360*

As the U.S. Senate is poised to restore the five-member commission — which is currently split between two Democrats and two Republicans — to full power and give Democrats the majority. After being held up in committee, privacy expert Alvaro M. Bedoya is expected be confirmed as the fifth commissioner in the coming weeks, which would hand Khan a crucial third vote and could help determine how far she’s willing to push the agency’s enforcement capabilities, according to attorneys.  
Kelley Drye partner [Laura Riposo VanDruff](/Our-People/Laura-Riposo-VanDruff) was quoted in a recent *Law360* article discussing the current status at the FTC. ​“The 2-2 split hasn’t prevented the FTC from accomplishing a great deal and achieving consensus in important privacy and data security matters,” Kelley Drye & Warren LLP partner Laura Riposo VanDruff said. ​“Nonetheless, there’s likely to be considerably more momentum when Alvaro Bedoya joins the commission.”
