# Kelley Drye’s Laura Riposo VanDruff Featured in *Protocol*

A *Protocol* article on the appointment of Meredith Whittaker as senior advisor of AI for the FTC features commentary on the appointment by partner [Laura Riposo VanDruff.](/Our-People/Laura-Riposo-VanDruff) As a researcher on the social implications of AI, Whittaker’s previous work suggests that her presence might encourage the government to require new transparency from tech companies about how their algorithms work.

“\[Whittaker’s\] hiring is just the latest evidence of the FTC’s attention on algorithms and algorithmic issues,” said Laura Riposo VanDruff. ​“How she shapes policy and enforcement could be \[FTC\] Chairman \[Lina\] Khan’s privacy legacy,” she added.
