# Kelley Drye’s Alysa Hutnik Quoted in *Bloomberg Law* Story on California’s Privacy Ballot Initiative

Partner and Privacy and Information Security practice chair [Alysa Hutnik](https://www.kelleydrye.com/Our-People/Alysa-Z-Hutnik) was quoted in a recent *Bloomberg Law* article discussing a California ballot initiative (the California Citizen’s Privacy Rights Act). The ballot initiative, proposed by privacy advocate Alastair MacTaggart, has come under criticism, including from consumer rights groups, with Hutnik noting while ​“Nobody wants to be against Privacy,” the initiative is ​“a really flawed document” and ​“they only need a simple majority of votes.”

Proposition 24, known as the California Privacy Rights Act, would revamp California’s still new comprehensive privacy law (CCPA), expanding the types of data protected, add new obligations for businesses, and stablish a new state privacy agency to regulate and enforce, alongside the Attorney General’s Office.
