Kelley Drye Strengthens its Government Relations Practice with Addition of Joan Galvin

Washington, D.C. – Kelley Drye is pleased to announce that it has welcomed Joan Galvin to the firm’s Government Relations and Public Policy Practice Group. Galvin, a veteran of Capitol Hill, joins as a Senior Advisor.

Senior Advisor Joan Galvin has extensive experience relating to appropriations, and on behalf of Kelley Drye clients she will plan and execute strategic initiatives to secure state and federal funding. In addition Ms. Galvin will lobby at the federal, state, and international levels on a wide range of issues, including agriculture, biotechnology, marine science, transportation, and wildlife and environmental matters. Ms. Galvin is well-respected throughout Capitol Hill having worked as Legislative Assistant to former Members of Congress Representatives Andy Ireland (R-FL) and Larry Hopkins (R-KY) and has key contacts among the federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of the Interior, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Galvin worked as a Principal with the Livingston Group, where she focused on appropriations, agriculture and environmental matters. For the past 10 years, she has participated as a non-governmental observer and monitored issues on behalf of industry clients under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), the Convention on Biodiversity (CBD) and the World Animal Health Organization (OIE). She also previously served as Director of Communications, Public Relations, and Government Relations for Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium, a private non-profit marine research laboratory and aquarium, where she successfully obtained state and federal funding for marine research and education projects.

For seven years, Ms. Galvin also served as Vice President for Government Relations at Feld Entertainment, Inc., the parent company of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Disney on Ice, and Siegfried and Roy. In her position, Ms. Galvin lobbied at the federal, state, local and international level on behalf of Feld’s interests, developed industry coalitions, and specialized in international environmental and agricultural law, including the Endangered Species Act and Animal Welfare Act.
