# *Irish Voice* Profiles Partner Robert D. Bickford, Jr. on his Irish Heritage and His Success in Real Estate Law

Partner [Bob Bickford](/Our-People/Robert-D-Bickford-Jr) was featured in the *Irish Voice* article ​“The Art of the Deal.” The article focused on Bob’s Irish roots, his early years, and how he rose through the ranks at Kelley Drye and ultimately became partner. Having begun his career as a summer associate at Kelley Drye, Bob has a trove of advice, ​“There are things I’ve tried to impart to young lawyers working for me. I tell them add value or get out of the way,” Bob says. ​“It’s not about showing how smart you are. It’s about figuring out what’s important to our client, what the best deal is for our client, and getting that accomplished.”
