# Independent Record Quotes Partner Wayne D’Angelo in Wolverine Case

Partner [Wayne D’Angelo](/Our-People/Wayne-J-D-Angelo) was quoted in the *Independent Record* article ​“Wolverine case being heard in Missoula court asks if FWS made rational decision.” The article describes the case of Center for Biological Diversity et. al. v. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell in which the two sides argued whether an agency decision denying Endangered Species Act protection to wolverines was reasonable or arbitrary. Mr. D’Angelo spoke on behalf of the American Petroleum Institute and Montana Petroleum Institute, noting that they worried they might face exploration limits if the wolverine got new federal protection. He argued that there is no reason to grant protection, because after being nearly exterminated in the 1930s, wolverines have shown steady population growth to their current 300 census. ​“And that’s happened at a time of higher threats from trapping and climate change,” Mr. D’Angelo said. ​“The best available evidence is it will continue on.”
