Partner **Gonzalo E. Mon** was quoted in the *E-Commerce Law & Policy* article ​“New York AG Targets Fake Online Reviews.” The article discusses how New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has been investigating and issuing fines to companies that use ​‘astroturfing,’ which is the practice of paying writers to create fake positive online reviews. Mr. Mon commented that the New York Consumer Protection from Deceptive Acts and Practices Act certainly prohibits any false advertising, and that ​“consumers should be able to differentiate paid ads from independent opinions, so the practice of disguising the former as the latter is deceptive and misleading.”
