Kelley Drye served as co-counsel for the State of New Jersey throughout the litigation, that resulted in $2.5 billion in settlements. [*Bloomberg Law*](https://news.bloomberglaw.com/environment-and-energy/new-jerseys-2-5-billion-pfas-pact-gives-insight-to-more-states) reported that this case will provide insight for other states in future litigation on PFAS, or ​“forever chemical,” matters. “We learned a tremendous amount by litigating these cases and obviously understanding what DuPont and 3M understood with respect to the risks of this chemistry,” said Bill. Bill also spoke to [*Law​.com*](https://www.law.com/2026/08/10/25b-settlement-a-new-blueprint-for-environmental-litigation/) about the settlements, noting that there is a large volume of pending litigation over PFAS. “The approval of these historic settlements establishes a legal framework and serves as a precedent to shape and resolve massive PFAS impacts and liabilities nationwide,” Bill told *Law​.com*.
