# Andrews Insurance Coverage Litigation Reporter Notes Kelley Drye’s Representation in Food Producers’ Lawsuit

In the article, ​“Customs Surety Bonds: Insurers Owe $1 Billion Under Anti-Dumping Surety Bonds, Suit Claims, *Sioux Honey Ass’n v. Hartford Fire Ins. Co.*,” *Andrews Insurance Coverage Litigation Reporter* noted Kelley Drye’s representation of five domestic food producers in the class action lawsuit filed against a group of insurance companies, the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The $1 billion lawsuit is pending in the Court of International Trade. The plaintiffs claim that a group of insurance companies issued customs surety bonds that allowed importers to bring in food products from China at below cost, or ​“dumped” prices.

“‘This groundbreaking lawsuit holds insurance companies accountable for enabling unfair international trade practices with custom bonds and for failing to honor the payments promised when issuing those bonds,’ plaintiffs’ law firm Kelley Drye & Warren said in a press release.”
