# How Lenders are Competing in Today’s Challenging Marketplace

On November 2nd, Kelley Drye hosted a seminar, presented by the CRE Finance Council, called ​“How Lenders are Competing in Today’s Challenging Marketplace.” Partner [Paul A. Keenan](/Our-People/Paul-A-Keenan) moderated the panel, which consisted of a representative from a CMBS lender, an insurance company and a bank. Each lender representative described how they would structure deals in today’s marketplace – and vie to win the deal. They also discussed how each type of lender (CMBS, Bank, Insurance) would approach lending on a specific type of deal and critical issues that could prevent an insurance lender from backing away from a deal but would also be enticing to a CMBS lender.
