# General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 101

The European Union’s GDPR went into effect on May 25, 2018 and has created a fundamental shift in the way that companies think about collecting, using, storing, and sharing data. This session will cover GDPR core concepts including applicability, identifying lawful basis for data handling, providing notice, managing consent, and operational compliance.
