Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, a powerhouse firm with the heart of a boutique, is seeking a Docket Clerk based in the New York, NY office. The Docket Clerk will primarily be responsible for docketing on behalf of the firm’s lawyers and business professionals. To accomplish this, the Docket Clerk will work closely with the Managing Attorney’s team and will interface daily with the attorneys and business professionals in all offices to make certain that all relevant information is captured and reflected in the firm’s calendar.
Essential Functions:
- Docket all materials received by the MAO which includes the timely review of documents to calculate, record, and disseminate response dates pursuant to court rules and civil procedure using the CourtAlert docketing software.
- Monitor, electronically and manually, matters pending in a variety of local, state, and federal trial and appellate courts, administrative agencies, and alternative dispute forums.
- Provide the attorneys in the firm with procedural guidance to ensure compliance with requirements of the Courts and other authorities.
- Respond to emails and telephone inquiries from the firm’s attorneys and business professionals.
- Research using various online resources including, CourtLink, CourtAlert, CasePortal and PACER.
- Serve and file litigation documents, which includes the use of the electronic filing systems for the various courts in which the firm practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years applicable experience in a law firm.
- Knowledge of federal and state court systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including ability to proofread documents for spelling and grammatical errors.
- Hard working, well-organized and detail oriented. Must be able to manage numerous projects simultaneously under pressure.
- Ability and willingness to take initiative to address problems and to make recommendations.
- Ability to communicate with attorneys at all levels and with business professionals throughout the firm.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, dynamic and highly motivated.
- Ability to work independently.
- Flexibility to work additional hours, as necessary.
The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in New York City if selected for the role. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees, and certifications (e.g., JD/technology) for example. New York City Salary Range: Low: $60,000 High: $70,000.
