Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, a powerhouse firm with the heart of a boutique, is seeking a Practice Group Coordinator to work with the attorneys and professionals in the firm’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring practice group. Reporting to the COO, CAHRO, and Practice Group Leader, the Practice Group Coordinator will help ensure the practice group operates efficiently, pursues attractive new business opportunities, and delivers high-quality services to clients. Their support will enable attorneys to focus on client work and legal strategy, contributing to the overall success of the firm.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Practice Operations: Help manage day-to-day operations of the bankruptcy practice group, including coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting key decisions and action items. Maintain detailed progress notes for ongoing initiatives.

Financial Oversight: Assist in budget planning for the practice group and monitor expenses throughout the year.

Events: Project manage logistics related to practice group hosted client events, conference attendance and speaking engagements for individual lawyers, and group participation at industry events. Collaborate with Marketing and external events company to manage events. Serve as primary liaison with industry trade groups and other organizations the bankruptcy group partners with.

Business Development: Work with practice group attorneys on business development initiatives with individual clients, new creditors’ committee opportunities, and related opportunities. Run protocol using new case filing data and financial analytics to identify creditors’ committee opportunities. Produce attractive PPT pitch decks and other marketing materials.

Research: Conduct company, industry and other business research using industry-specific database tools to synthesize findings into actionable intelligence. Track distressed opportunities of potential interest. Help respond to client requests for intelligence about distressed companies.

Marketing Communications: Coordinate with the Marketing Department to produce marketing content, issue communications, and maintain digital and social media presence. Help evaluate opportunities to submit for awards or inclusion in credible legal directories and work with Marketing to develop compelling submissions.

Data and Knowledge Management: Maintain the quality and accuracy of practice group experience lists and track results of pitches and proposals. Manage and maintain bankruptcy database of contacts, relationships, and referrals in the firm’s CRM.

Staffing: Coordinate with the Human Resources Department on initiatives related to recruiting and scheduling attorney performance reviews.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle complex workflows and adhere to deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with financial and credit intelligence databases, such as Reorg Research (Octus) and Debtwire, and with CRM systems, preferred.
  • A minimum of two years working in the bankruptcy area, preferably in a law firm setting.
  • Powerpoint and excel proficiency required.
  • Undergraduate degree with 3 to 5 years of applicable work experience.

The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in New York City if selected for the role. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees, and certifications (e.g., JD/technology) for example. New York City Salary Range: Low: $110,000 High: $120,000.
