We understand that document review can be a very important part of a litigation, yet costly to a client. Our team helps clients understand their e-Discovery obligations, minimizes risks related to ESI discovery and offers several options to clients to contain the costs of this process in a cost-effective, tailored solution.
At the intersection of technology and law, our dedicated discovery attorneys work seamlessly with the firm’s litigation attorneys and case teams to provide e-Discovery and document review support for Kelley Drye’s clients across practices, industries and offices. Massive volumes of data may pose major and costly challenges to clients, courts and lawyers involved in litigation. When clients face exceedingly large matters, we have relationships with outside companies who supply temporary document review attorneys whom we often find useful to assist in large-scale first-level reviews.
Only after careful evaluation of the critical issues in the case, the results of early case assessment and the needs of case management do we implement a discovery plan. From the outset, we focus on the most efficient ways to identify and manage relevant and/or privileged information and anticipate problems and controversies that may arise as opposing sides clash over discovery requests. We consider the different types of cases and very different demands, ranging volume of data, complexity of data types and stringent timelines.
Discovery Technology
We pride ourselves on having a robust in-house discovery services team that is extremely skilled in using a variety of e-Discovery platforms. We rely on our technical and legal strengths in this area to provide legal and technological advice on how to manage and correctly budget for the e-Discovery process. We make sure that our plans and processes are rightsized to the cases and that we employ the right tools when the amounts of data are very large and/or the timelines are extremely short.
We also believe it is essential to use state-of-the-art technology to support our client relationships as fully as possible. Using Relativity, we have a number of tools available to improve reviewer efficiency and accuracy. These include predictive coding, e-mail threading, concept clustering and near duping. Each of these tools has a particular use and is best used in certain situations and not others. Our e-Discovery team is ready to provide guidance on these tools, as well as other aspects of Relativity, to help reduce the number of documents to be reviewed and to help the attorneys review faster and with more accuracy. This assists us in learning the facts of the case more quickly, while controlling the costs to the client.
The group stays current on legal developments and technological innovations and advises our litigation teams on best e-Discovery practices.
