Kelley Drye’s EU Regulatory and Compliance attorneys help companies and industry associations navigate and shape EU rules and ensure compliance with complex regulations, including the interplay between EU legislation and the laws of the Member States.
Our team possesses broad experience and in-depth knowledge of European Union law and policy, with a focus on the environment and consumer protection fields, including matters relating to product safety, food, chemicals, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and animals.  Working closely with the firm’s U.S.-based export control team, we provide advice and counsel concerning EU export controls, including military and dual-use items, as well as EU sanctions.
  • Counseling companies on compliance with EU directives and regulations in the environmental and consumer protection fields, including those applicable to plant protection products, biotechnology, foodstuffs, food packaging, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods and radio telecom equipment.

  • Advising companies and conducting investigations to facilitate and/or ascertain compliance with export control and sanctions regimes.

  • Training company personnel concerning compliance with EU laws governing the export of dual-use items, and drafting company compliance manuals and procedures.

  • Providing advice concerning current developments and requirements for data protection and processing of personal data in the EU and processing of EU data in the U.S.

  • Providing analysis and advice to biotechnology, pharmaceutical and food additive companies regarding new and proposed EU legislation, including proposed schemes for environmental liability, labeling requirements for genetically modified foodstuffs, pharmaceutical approvals, and implementation of international environmental agreements.

  • Advising the European office of an American plant protection product company concerning regulatory requirements of EU and Member State pesticides laws, and strategic aspects of submissions to maximize data protection in connection with regulatory approvals.

  • Advising a sovereign State on EU rules governing public procurement in the defence sector.
