Bob Ehrenbard is a partner in the firm’s New York office. During his 60 plus years of practice, he has focused on litigation and international transactions and disputes. He has represented a wide variety of clients from Fortune
100 companies to sole proprietors and from celebrities to welfare candidates.
Bob has tried jury and non-jury cases and arbitrations in many parts of the United States and Puerto Rico, argued appeals in most of the U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal, and appeared in the U.S. Supreme Court. His broad-based litigation practice has included cases involving RICO, fraud, securities laws, stockholder derivative claims, class actions, product liability, mergers and acquisitions, breach of fiduciary duty, franchise and distributor disputes, insurance, intellectual and other property rights, unfair competition, will contests, family disputes, defamation, civil rights, bankruptcy and reorganization, workouts, and breaches of a variety of contracts.
In his international work, Bob has acted both as a litigation and business lawyer. He has managed or conducted litigations and arbitrations in various parts of the world outside the United States. He also has represented clients or participated in negotiations of cross-border transactions and other activities involving more than 20 foreign countries on five continents.
Prior to joining Kelley Drye, Bob was the law clerk for the Honorable Edward J. Dimock in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Served as director and past president of the cooperative corporation that owns the building in which he lives in Manhattan.
Successfully defended one of the nation’s largest banks and one of the nation’s largest insurance companies against claims on official and certified checks involved in one of the largest business frauds perpetrated up to that time. Case resulted in a change in the black letter law involving negotiable instruments.
Negotiated with a Fortune 500 company on behalf of a foreign bank for its withdrawal, within six months, from a joint venture that threatened the solvency of the bank.
Investigated and negotiated the settlement of a claim by a start-up Latin American manufacturer against one of the world’s most prominent U.S. construction companies. Settlement was achieved within three months and saved the client approximately 25 percent of the construction cost of its chemical plant.
Achieved a profitable resolution of a dispute regarding the termination of a long-term chemical supply contract between a Latin American manufacturer and an Asian plant, avoiding a demanded and prejudiced arbitration.
Successfully defended a finance company from a claim for significant damages for an adjudicated wrongful attachment establishing liability in an unfavorable court forum outside the continental United States.
Obtained favorable results for parties in various contests supporting and attacking wills.
Successfully enforced the unprecedented rights of a writer to recover the book publishing profits he could have earned from the exploitation of a character he created.
Established coverage and achieved recovery on a variety of insurance claims.
Utilized nationwide jurisdiction and injunctive remedies to prevent further loss and to recover assets in various forms resulting from a fraud on a finance company.
Enforced preferred stock payment and other rights and established an equitable lien for a Fortune 100 company in connection with the sale of one of its divisions.
Defended at trial one of three major automobile manufacturing defendants in a nationwide antitrust price-fixing class action that exposed the manufacturers to damages in excess of their combined net worth.
Represented a Latin American construction firm in an arbitration with a European consortium involving a Middle Eastern construction project. Case resulted in an award and resisted collection of nearly the entire amount demanded.
