Robert Cunningham focuses on data privacy and information security, advertising technology, and other consumer protection law matters. He advises clients on privacy- and security-related legal and regulatory challenges, offering practical advice based on extensive experience in and a deep understanding of the tech industry—especially adtech and martech.

He has extensive experience with the current crop of U.S. state privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA, ColoPA, VCDPA), as well as FTC enforcement, GDPR, ePrivacy, LGPD, PIPL, GLBA, HIPAA, and other country- and industry-specific laws.

Robert held senior legal, strategic, and business development roles within both public companies and startups, and he brings the insights he gleaned from those roles to help his clients navigate the legal challenges they face.

Prior to joining the firm, Robert was Head of Legal at Ketch, where he performed privacy and product counseling for the design and implementation of Ketch’s data control platform, an enterprise-grade privacy and data governance solution for businesses.

Prior to Ketch, Robert was senior corporate counsel at Salesforce, providing privacy and product counsel for Salesforce’s suite of Marketing Cloud products, including services such as data management platforms.

Robert is a frequent presenter at privacy legal conferences and on webinars and podcasts discussing recent and anticipated developments in that space.

He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional for Europe (CIPP/E) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

I’ve spent much of my career working for the very kind of businesses I now represent. That helps me see not just the legal implications of an issue, but also the business context and imperatives my clients face.”
