Monica Hanna is a senior associate in the firm’s New York office. Her practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and class action defense. Part of the trial team representing Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. in a multimillion-dollar breach of contract claim brought by a former licensee which alleged that the licensee’s rights to use certain trademarks was prematurely terminated. Case settled during trial.

International arbitration counsel in telecommunications breach of contract dispute.

Trial defense counsel to American Integrated Oil Company in case alleging property damage due to a spill of fuel oil from underground storage tanks.

Coordinating trial counsel in multi-party federal turnover action against defendants alleged to be alter egos of Iran.  The court granted summary judgment on the eve of anticipated six week trial.

Member of trial and appellate team representing high net worth individual in director’s breach of fiduciary duty action.

Successfully moved to dismiss commercial litigation sounding in fraud and negligence on behalf of an American sportswear retailer.

Counsel in multiple New York real estate litigations, through several interlocutory appeals, against corrupt managing agent, resulting in settlement valued over $200 million.

Appellate counsel to a major oil company in bankruptcy matter impacting the manner in which crude oil is traded in the United States.

Mediated highly favorable settlement in bankruptcy matter relating to the subprime mortgage crisis.

Represented victims of terrorism in several federal turnover actions to enforce judgements valued over $1 billion against the Islamic Republic of Iran at the trial and appellate levels.

Assisted in representation of reinsurer in an action seeking to enforce an arbitration award revisited by the underlying arbitration panel through appellate proceedings.

Lead associate in class action defense of several multinational financial institutions against contested fees and marketing promotion terms and alleged privacy right infringements.

Defended multinational financial services corporation in class action relating to gift cards and designed and coordinated successful national, second-round notice program for final fairness approval of settlement.

Representing national testing laboratory in its defense against claims for medical malpractice and negligence in the reporting of blood test results.
