Kelley Drye & Warren Helps To Secure Continuation Of Antidumping And Countervailing Duty Orders On Hot-Rolled Steel Products
January 29, 2014

On December 17, 2013, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) determined that revoking the antidumping duty order on imports of hot-rolled steel products from China, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, and Ukraine, and the countervailing duty order on hot-rolled steel products from India, Indonesia, and Thailand would likely lead to the continuation or recurrence of injury to the U.S. industry.  This was the second sunset review of the orders, which were imposed in 2001.  The ITC’s affirmative determinations were welcome news for the domestic industry, which faced strong opposition from foreign producers in India, Taiwan and Thailand during the review.  As a result of the ITC’s affirmative finding, the antidumping and countervailing duty orders on hot-rolled steel products will be continued for an additional five years until another sunset review is undertaken.  Kelley Drye & Warren helped to secure the continuation of the orders on behalf of domestic producer ArcelorMittal Steel USA.  Other domestic producers of hot-rolled steel include Nucor Corporation, United States Steel Corporation, Gallatin Steel, SSAB Enterprises LLC, and Steel Dynamics, Inc.
