Senate Passes Sweeping CPSC Legislation

Kelley Drye Client Advisory

Kelley Drye’s Consumer Product Safety and Government Relations and Public Policy Practice Groups have prepared a Client Advisory titled Senate Passes Sweeping CPSC Legislation: Major Implications for Manufacturers, Importers, and Retailers.” The Advisory discusses legislation passed by the United States Senate on March 6, 2008 that reauthorizes the Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) and has major implications for many manufacturers, distributors, importers, and retailers of consumer products.

The Advisory also compares the Senate bill against the reauthorization bill the House of Representatives passed unanimously in December 2007. Additional topics of discussion include controversial and distinct provisions of the Senate bill.
