Congress Releases New Lobbyist Contribution Reporting Service

Kelley Drye Client Advisory

The Campaign Finance and Political Law practice has prepared a client advisory discussing a new lobbying reporting system for LD-203 reports released yesterday by Congress. Under the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007 (“HLOGA”), active registrants and individuals who have been listed as active lobbyists by their employer-registrant must file a contribution report (LD-203), including if the lobbyist has been active” for any part of the semi-annual period. These requirements apply to federally-registered lobbying entities and lobbyists.

This client advisory discusses the new Lobbyist Disclosure Electronic Filing Contribution Reporting System and provides details regarding how organizational registrants and lobbyists can file their contribution reports on the new web-based system. Additionally, the advisory highlights important features of the filing systems and notes upcoming deadlines.
