Christine Varney Nominated as Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust

President Obama recently nominated Christine Varney – a former FTC Commissioner – to serve as the Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust. Ms. Varney is an extremely well-connected Democrat who worked on the Obama-Biden campaign and subsequently served as a member of the President Obama’s transition team. Although she is best known for her work in the privacy and consumer protection fields, Ms. Varney has significant antitrust expertise developed as both a government enforcer and a private practitioner.
