Media Liability Insurance - Chapter 52
California Insurance Law and Practice (Matthew Bender & Company, Inc.)
2009
Media liability insurance has emerged as a specialized product for risks typically associated with the gathering, creation, production, and dissemination of mass media. Since many risks, such as intellectual property, reputation, and privacy-based claims, were traditionally excluded from coverage under most general liability insurance policies, motion picture and television producers, broadcasters, publishers and other businesses with content-related risks, have turned to the specialty insurance market for tailor-made policies. This chapter addresses the origins of media liability coverage given the increasing limitations on such coverage in comprehensive general liability policies, and provides an overview of the types of coverage available in most media liability policies.
