Special counsel Laura Rabinowitz authored the InsideCounsel article “Post-9/11 U.S. Customs and Border Protection Safety and Security.” The article discussed the various trade regulations associated with the importation of goods as well as what importers can do to ensure they are prepared for U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Laura begins by breaking down some of Customs’ post-9/11 security regulations: The Container Security Initiative, Customs –Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, Advance Electronic Cargo Information and Importer Security Filing. She also describes the increased cooperation with other government agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency and the Food and Drug Administration.
