This article discusses candid videotapes and the still evolving legal guidelines surrounding them. The article notes that several invasion of privacy suits in conjunction with these videotapes have arisen, but generally speaking, if a subject appears in a public place, or if a recording focuses on a public figure or generally newsworthy event, no invasion of privacy should occur.
