Kelley Drye Wins Education Award for Student in Pro Bono Matter

Kelley Drye successfully represented, pro bono, the mother of a minor child with a learning disability before the Board of Education’s Impartial Hearing Office. After a hearing, she obtained a substantial educational award for the student, who was entitled to, but did not receive, years of necessary speech therapy and counseling from the Board of Education. Based on the evidence presented, the hearing officer agreed to Kelley Drye’s requests to accommodate the student’s academic needs. The student will receive a 12-week summer program of intense remediation therapy and full tuition to the private high school of his choice. The student is expected to improve from a fourth grade reading level to a sixth or seventh grade reading level upon completion of the summer remediation program.
