Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund Celebrates Four Years

Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, a Kelley Drye pro bono client, celebrates its four-year anniversary in May 2008. The organization was created in May 2004 to provide financial grants and special services to injured Marines, those injured while supporting Marines, and their families, who often face unexpected expenses in the wake of catastrophic injury or illness. IMSFF works closely with the U.S. Marine Corps, the Navy, and military hospitals nationwide to identify and assess the needs of specific injured warriors and their families.

Kelley Drye has served as pro bono counsel to IMSFF since the fall of 2004, when Bill Scott, through his broad network of Marine contacts, brought the organization to the firm’s attention. Since then, Washington, DC partner Allan Weiner has provided pro bono general legal counsel to IMSFF with respect to its programs, fundraising, human resources, intellectual property rights and governance.

Since its inception, IMSFF has processed over 8,000 grants, providing over $20 million in assistance to injured Marines and their families. It also sponsors Team Semper Fi which helps injured team members participate in various sporting events with financial assistance and through specialized coaching, training, equipment, and motivation.
