Kelley Drye & Warren LLP is pleased to announce that Sarah Roller, J.D., R.D., M.P.H., has joined the firm as Partner. In addition to serving as Chair of the Food and Drug Law Practice, she will also be a member of the Advertising Law and Government Relations and Public Policy Practices.

Rosenthal, Managing Partner of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. “Not only does Sarah bring with her a wealth of legal experience, her multidisciplinary background in human nutrition, food science and public health enables her to fully understand and evaluate the science behind food and drug product benefit claims.”
Recognized as a leading practitioner in food and drug law by Chambers USA, Ms. Roller specializes in the representation of U.S. and global companies and industry trade organizations engaged in the development, manufacture, import, export, distribution and marketing of foods, beverages, dietary supplements, functional foods, nutraceuticals, medical foods, cosmetics, medicines and other personal health care and wellness products domestically and abroad. Providing integrated counseling services spanning the legal, regulatory and legislative arenas, Ms. Roller also has extensive experience representing her clients in complex legal, policy and enforcement matters before federal and state agencies.
With a particular expertise in helping clients minimize regulatory enforcement risks, she develops tailored legal risk management strategies and compliance programs. In addition to ensuring that product formulations and ingredients meet Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and other applicable safety requirements, she utilizes her multidisciplinary background to verify that product benefit claims disseminated through labeling, print and web advertising, social marketing and other promotions are adequately substantiated by scientific evidence.
Prior to joining Kelley Drye, Ms. Roller served as Of Counsel with Covington & Burling LLP, where she was a member of their Food and Drug Law, Antitrust and Government Affairs Practices. A veteran of Capitol Hill, she also previously spent five years working as a Life Sciences Policy Analyst for the U.S. Congress with the Congressional Research Service. A Registered Dietitian since 1981, Ms. Roller also previously served as a clinical research nutritionist with the Mt. Sinai Hypertension Trial conducted by Mt. Sinai Hospital and the University of Minnesota.
A member of the Order of the Coif, Ms. Roller earned her J.D. from the George Washington University with high honors. She earned her M.P.H. from the University of Minnesota and her B.S. in Dietetics, with honors, from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
