Kelley Drye announced that it will welcome a former Legislative and Political Director of the United Steelworkers of America, as Senior Advisor to the firm’s Government Relations and Public Policy and International Trade practice groups in September. At Kelley Drye, he will help clients advance their legislative and political agendas.
"Bill is well-respected in Congress on both sides of the aisle. He is known for his substance, his candor and his ability to work with people," said Paul C. Rosenthal, Managing Partner of Kelley Drye's Washington, D.C office. "We are delighted he is joining our government relations practice."
He brings with him over 20 years of experience in the domestic steel industry. Most recently, he led the Stand Up for Steel Committee, a coalition of major U.S. steel producers working to ensure fairness in international trade laws and promote the well-being of steelworkers. This coalition is widely credited as the most successful labor-management partnership.
At the United Steelworkers of America (USWA), he served as advisor to the president and advocated for the USWA on issues such as labor law, international trade, environmental regulation, and safety and health protections as well as pensions for workers. He also staffed Commissioner Leo Gerard at the National Commission of Energy Policy.
Additionally, he has lobbied Congress on behalf of the Industrial Union Department of the AFL-CIO, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and the National Wildlife Federation. He received his B.A. in History from Assumption College.
