Kelley Drye & Warren LLP is pleased to announce that Michael J. Zinna, the principal of intellectual property boutique Ward & Zinna, LLC, has joined the firm as partner. Miichael will be based in the firm’s New York and New Jersey offices. Michael focuses his practice on all aspects of intellectual property law, including complex patent litigation, post-grant review proceedings before the U.S. Patent Trial & Appeal Board (PTAB), trademark litigation, IP licensing, and the management of domestic and international IP portfolios.

“Michael will strengthen Kelley Drye’s patent and trademark litigation bench and enhance the depth of intellectual property services we offer clients,” said firm managing partner Lew Rose. “We are delighted to welcome them to the firm as we continue to grow in strategic areas of law.”

Mr. Zinna’s practice encompasses all facets of intellectual property, with a focus on patent and trademark litigation, procurement, clearance and licensing. In particular, he has extensive experience representing his clients in patent litigation against non-practicing entities (NPEs). Mr. Zinna also represents patent holders and petitioners in post-grant review proceedings before the PTAB and handles opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Trademark Trial & Appeal Board (TTAB). In addition to his patent and trademark docket, Mr. Zinna litigates trade dress, copyright and unfair competition cases, and advises clients on branding strategy and patent design-around options. He was named a Rising Star by New Jersey Super Lawyers from 2011-2014.

“Kelley Drye shares our commitment to serving clients with efficiency and pragmatism. I am excited to be working alongside such accomplished attorneys who share our philosophy and excel at executing it across multiple practice areas,” said Mr. Zinna.

Mr. Zinna also brings a patent attorney with him from his firm to Kelley Drye. David G. Lindenbaum joins as a senior associate. Jay Mehr and Keith DiConsiglio of Major, Lindsey & Africa assisted in the recruitment of Mr. Zinna.
