Gregory J. Mastel Joins Kelley Drye as Director of Government Relations

Kelley Drye & Warren LLP is pleased to announce that Gregory Mastel has joined the firm as director of government relations, working in the Washington, D.C. office.

Greg brings nearly two decades of experience in government relations and trade policy in both the public and private sectors.  As former chief international trade advisor and economist for the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, he developed many pieces of legislation related to U.S.trade and tax policy and served as official congressional advisor to U.S.international trade negotiations.  Greg also held a number of positions with Senator Max Baucus, including chief of staff, where he provided counsel on a wide range of political and policy issues.

Building upon his legislative expertise, Greg has advised a number of corporate and government clients on international trade and tax matters. He has also worked with several banks and funds to identify investment opportunities created by changes in policy in the United States and around the world. Most recently, Greg served as managing director at Dutko Grayling where he consulted clients on tax, trade and environmental issues and assisted in outreach to the U.S. Congress and the Administration.

Greg has published several books on international economic and financial issues including, Antidumping Laws and the U.S. Economy in 1998, The Rise of the Chinese Economy in 1997 and U.S. Trade Laws After the Uruguay Round in 1996. His articles on international tax and trade issues have also been featured in publications including The International Economy, Challenge: The Magazine of Economic Affairs, Law & Business, The Washington Quarterly and Foreign Policy. He has been cited by The New York Times, Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal. Mr. Mastel has also appeared on a number of broadcast programs, including Market Watch and NewsHour.

Greg received his Bachelor of Science degree from Regents College and graduated from Edinburgh Business School with a Masters of Business Administration.
