Partner Carolyn R. Caufield was noted in a Wall Street Journal article, "On Death and Taxes . . . and the Candidates."
The article discussed Senators Barack Obama and John McCain's concurrence with changing the law to make the federal estate-tax exemption "portable." Tax advisers say making the estate-tax exemption transferable from one spouse to another would simplify estate planning
and lead to fewer complexities in estate planning for families. The article quoted Ms. Caufield as follows: "'Portability would be one of the most important changes in real estate planning,' in many years said Carolyn R. Caufield, a partner at the law firm of Kelley Drye & Warren LLP in New York City."
The Associated Press republished this story, which appeared in multiple news outlets.
