Partner Eric McClafferty was quoted in the New York Times article “New Rules Set on Armed Drone Exports.” The article outlines a new policy for the international export of armed drones, which was put in place to preserve an American lead in the fast-growing drone market. Mr. McClafferty notes the pressure to permit the export of both military and nonmilitary drones. “You have tons of allies who really want these UAVs,” he said, referring to unmanned aerial vehicles, and suggested that new FAA regulations, announced on February 15th, suggested that the Obama administration was beginning to address the proliferation of all kinds of drones, from the tiny models popular with hobbyists and photographers to the military models.
