The National Law Journal noted that partner Lewis Rose has been appointed firm managing partner of Kelley Drye in the article “In First, New Kelley Drye Managing Partner is Based in D.C.” Mr. Rose, former managing partner of the Washington, D.C. office and past chair of the Advertising and Marketing practice group, assumes the role held by New York partner James J. Kirk for more than 10 years.
While it is the first time Kelley Drye has had a managing partner in D.C., it does not mean much will change at the firm. “The world is smaller, right? We’re a national firm. With technology, it doesn’t matter where anybody is,” said Mr. Rose.
Since the Washington D.C. office opened in the 1990s, it has grown significantly, with revenues doubling in the past eight years. “The firm really did transform itself quietly,” he said. “My appointment as a managing partner of the firm really is just a continuation of that.”
Kathleen W. Cannon, former chair of the firm’s International Trade practice and noted trade attorney, succeeds Mr. Rose as D.C. office managing partner.
