Partner Paul Rosenthal Quoted in Law360 Article on DOC Investigation into Thermoplastic Sheet Import

Partner Paul C. Rosenthal was quoted in the Law360 article, Commerce Opens Probe Into Imported Thermoplastic Sheet.”  The article discusses the recent statement by the U.S. Department of Commerce this past Wednesday, in which it said it will investigate claims by American manufacturers that cheap imported thermoplastic sheet from South Korea, Oman and Mexico is undercutting their business.

Commerce opened its anti-dumping probes into the imported polyethylene terephthalate, or PET, sheet, after a group of U.S. manufacturers claimed that producers from those three countries were selling the product in the U.S. at prices below fair market value.

On August 21, 2019, Paul told Law360 that unfairly traded PET sheet — which is used in food and retail packaging such as takeout containers and medical trays — has devastated” the U.S. industry.  Now that the investigations have been launched, the domestic industry is looking forward to meaningful import relief,” he stated.
