discussing proposals for the Federal Communications Commission to beef up Lifeline subsidies now so low-income consumers can maintain internet service after emergency broadband funds run out.
The FCC is being urged to open public comments on a range of Lifeline proposals that would ensure broadband connectivity and make needed fixes to the telecom subsidy.
"We had the meeting in hopes of getting the FCC to put the petition out for comment [because] we believe the agency needs to take action now to make Lifeline post-EBB ready," said Heitmann. "We can't really afford to wait until the EBB program is over and then fix Lifeline."
