Partner Jaimie Nawaday appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe to discuss the alleged federal investigation into Rudy Giuliani’s dealings with Ukraine. Giuliani, a former New York City mayor and President Trump’s personal attorney, is reportedly under investigation by the Southern District of New York (SDNY) for breaking lobbying laws, according to a report from The New York Times
. The news follows the arrest of Giuliani’s associates, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, on charges of violating campaign finance laws. Jaimie, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney, explained the SDNY’s approach to high-profile investigations.
“The Southern District of New York understands when they have a [high-profile] case that the whole nation is watching … [and,] it generally proceeds as you would in any other investigation, but much more carefully,” Jaimie said. “There are many more layers of vetting. Here, the U.S. Attorney, at a minimum, would be involved every step of the way. They don’t want this to look like a politically motivated investigation. It’s very important that they maintain public trust.”
