Partner Jaimie Nawaday Discusses Alleged Giuliani Investigation on MSNBC
October 14, 2019
Partner Jaimie Nawaday appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe to discuss the alleged federal investigation into Rudy Giuliani’s dealings with Ukraine. Giuliani, a former New York City mayor and President Trump’s personal attorney, is reportedly under investigation by the Southern District of New York (SDNY) for breaking lobbying laws, according to a  report from The New York Times. The news follows the arrest of Giuliani’s associates, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, on charges of violating campaign finance laws. Jaimie, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney, explained the SDNY’s approach to high-profile investigations.

“The Southern District of New York understands when they have a [high-profile] case that the whole nation is watching … [and,] it generally proceeds as you would in any other investigation, but much more carefully,” Jaimie said. “There are many more layers of vetting. Here, the U.S. Attorney, at a minimum, would be involved every step of the way. They don’t want this to look like a politically motivated investigation. It’s very important that they maintain public trust.”
