Partner David A. Hartquist was quoted in an American Metal Market article titled "Specialty Mills Still Fighting vs. Stainless." The article discusses the domestic specialty metals producers' continued fight to unmask what they claim is Chinese stainless steel containing embargoed Cuban nickel. Mr. Hartquist, counsel to the Specialty Steel Industry of North America (SSINA), announced that they will press the issue with President Obama despite an apparent failure to get the former Bush administration to act on its charge. The administration ultimately failed to act on the SSINA request, Hartquist said, acknowledging that the issue is a political "hot potato," but maintained there is "very convincing evidence" that China is exporting to the U.S. stainless containing Cuban nickel. The SSINA intends to lobby the Obama administration to either "apply the law" or to remove sanctions, effectively giving all stainless producers access to Cuban nickel.
