article, “Law Firms 'Leading The Way' On Parental Benefits In 2019.” The article focuses on how numerous law firms, including Kelley Drye, made improvements to their parental leave policies in 2019. Kelley Drye was among a handful of firms who are leading the way in the industry by dropping gender and caregiver distinctions from their policy – giving all attorneys firm-wide access to the same parental leave benefits. Kelley Drye also formalized a ramp-up policy in which attorneys returning from parental leave are eligible for reduced billable hour requirements for eight weeks without taking a cut to their salary.
“We know it’s hard — I personally know it’s very hard — to come back to work to an active job and also raise young children, particularly when they are infants and very young, balancing their families and careers,” Dana said, “So we updated our policy to make it a little bit easier for folks to do that.”
