Partner Sarah Roller was quoted in the Law360 article “When The FDA Knocks: A Food Safety Inspection Playbook.” The article discusses how the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's food facility inspections touch on nearly every aspect of production, packaging and distribution; just one misstep by a company can seriously damage its reputation and bottom line. Ms. Roller explains “The risk is very significant. The purpose of the inspection is to evaluate whether the company is in compliance and to create an evidentiary record,” Roller said. “The opportunity is that companies that are well-informed about the legal importance of an FDA inspection and are well prepared have the opportunity to demonstrate that they are in compliance and have well-designed food safety systems in place.” Establishing a track record of compliance and good practices goes a long way in the industry, she said.
